The itinerary

Your journey starts today, departing Edinburgh and making your way to the Hopetoun Estate. Visit Hopetoun House and discover Midhope Castle, the set of “Lallybroch”. We then drive to Stirling and Doune Castle, before exploring the scenic Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park. Once we reach the West Coast, stop at Inveraray, the seat of the Campbells, on onwards to Oban.

Discover the mighty valley and mountains of Glencoe, on your way to the picture perfect Glenfinnan Monument to the Jacobites. Hop-on the ferry, over the sea to Skye, in the path of Prince Charles Edward Stuart.

Today you tour the iconic Isle of Skye and its picturesque landscapes. Visit Dunvegan Castle, the ancestral home to the MacLeods, and explore Portree, its quaint capital town, before making your way to the spectacular Trotternish Peninsula.

The day starts at Eilean Donan Castle, the former home of the MacRaes and perhaps the most iconic Scottish castle of all. Carry on the the mysterious shores of Loch Ness, towards Urquhart Castle. At the end of the day, explore Inverness, the capital city of the Highland and enjoy a lively evening in of of its musical pubs.

A short drive from Inverness, you will today visit Culloden Battlefield and its visitor centre. Learn all about the Jacobites’ downfall, and make your way ancient stone circles at Clava Cairns. Onwards to the scenic Cairngorms and the Highland Folk Museum. The day ends in the picturesque Victorian town of Pitlochry.

This morning, visit Scone Palace, home to the Earls of Mansfield and ancient crowning site of the Scottish Kings. The day continues in Fife, at St Andrews and Falkland, both towns with deep historical links to the Kings of Scotland. Return to Edinburgh at the end of the day.
