Wilderness

How about getting away from it all? This private tour takes you to the most remote, wild and untamed areas of Scotland, from rugged coasts to endless moors. There has never been a better time to disconnect, and reconnect with Nature.
DAY 1 - FIFE & PERTHSHIRE
Depart Edinburgh to discover the rich history of Fife and enjoy a stroll around the village of Falkland. Stroll along the picturesque forest path of the Hermitage towards Ossian’s Hall, before we make our way to the stunning landscapes of Glen Shee.
Overnight in Braemar / Ballater.
DAY 2 - ROYAL DEESIDE & SPEYSIDE
This morning, we drive along the mountain roads of Royal Deeside, past the Balmoral Estate, and on to Corgarff Castle. After a meal, and perhaps a dram, in one of Scotland’s most famous whisky bars, we explore the rolling hills of Speyside, and visit a whisky distillery.
Overnight in Dufftown / Grantown-on-Spey.
DAY 3 - EASTER ROSS & SUTHERLAND
Today, we are going back in time at Clava Cairns, a prehistoric stone circle near Inverness, before making our way to Chanonry Point, where we will hopefully observe sea mammals. Catching the Balnaphaling ferry at Cromarty, then visiting Dunrobin Castle, our journey carries on along the North Coast 500 towards the endless peat bogs of Flow Country.

DAY 4 - THE NORTH & WEST COAST
Along the Northern edge of mainland Scotland, we explore the Gaelic and Norse heritage of the area at Strathnaver, and drive to the picturesque Ard Neakie viewpoint. After lunch, we will explore the otherworldly sights of Smoo Cave and turn south towards Assynt. Before the end of the day, why not sample one of Lochinver’s famous pies.
Overnight in Kylesku / Lochinver.
DAY 5 - WESTER ROSS
We continue south with a stop at Achiltibuie, overlooking the Summer Isles, before reaching Ullapool. We will then walk down to Corrieshalloch Gorge. The road takes a turn around Loch Ewe and its magnificent sandy beaches, and we will visit the tropical Inverewe Gardens. On to Gairloch at Loch Maree, Glen Docherty and Glen Torridon, before reaching the Applecross peninsula.
Overnight in Applecross / Shieldaig.
DAY 6 - SKYE & KNOYDART
We discover today Bealach na Ba and its amazing viewpoint overlooking the Isle of Skye. Stop at Lochcarron to sample Scottish wool, plaids and fabrics, before we drive to Dornie and Eilean Donan Castle. After a brief drive on Skye (via the Skye Bridge), we take a ferry to Mallaig. The rest of the journey to reach Inverie, Scotland’s remotest village, will be on a boat.
Overnight in Inverie / Mallaig.
DAY 7 - MOIDART & ARDNAMURCHAN
After what will have been a very quiet night, we make our way back to Mallaig and will explore the scenic beaches near Arisaig. Onwards to Moidart and the spectacular ruin of Castle Tioram, ancient seat of the Clanranald. In the afternoon, we will visit Ardnamurchan Lighthouse, at the most westerly point in mainland Scotland.
Overnight in Acharacle / Kilchoan.
DAY 8 - GLENCOE & TROSSACHS
Catching the short ferry at Corran, we head towards Glencoe, a valley with a dramatic history, on through the vast wilderness of Rannoch Moor, before reaching the Trossachs National Park. We will discover the ruins of Kilchurn Castle and take a leisurely walk through the planned town of Inveraray.
Overnight in Killin / Balquhidder.
DAY 9 - CENTRAL SCOTLAND
Today we discover Loch Katrine, where we will walk, and Queen Elizabeth Forest Park, sitting right on the Highland Fault Line. We carry on via Doune towards Dunblane, to visit its cathedral, and Stirling. In the afternoon, we explore the mining village of Culross and the sights of the Forth Valley, before returning to Edinburgh.

This private tour favours shorter journeys, allowing more time to discover stunning and unique locations with short accessible walks. Discover the wonderfully rich history, the picturesque landscapes and the heritage of Scotland with a week-long tour like no other.
DAY 1 - THE KINGDOM OF FIFE
Depart Edinburgh and discover the rich history of Fife (Aberlour, St Monans, Anstruther),
before enjoying a stroll around the village of Falkland. On to St Andrews
for a guided tour around the ancient religious capital of Scotland, today the
site of the world’s oldest golf course.
Overnight in St Andrews / Dundee.
DAY 2 - PERTHSHIRE
On to the scenic roads of Perthshire, on the lands of the Duke of Atholl.
Stroll along the picturesque forest path of the Hermitage towards Ossian’s Hall,
wander through the streets of Dunkeld and Pitlochry and sample the region's delicacies
with a chocolate and whisky pairing at a whisky distillery.
Overnight in Kinloch Rannoch / Pitlochry.
DAY 3 - THE CAIRNGORMS
In the morning you will visit Blair Castle, the ancestral home of the Atholls,
before exploring the Cairngorms National Park. On to Aviemore and Glen Kyllachie
for some of the most scenic roads of the country,
before finding the shores of Loch Ness.
Overnight in Fort Augustus / Fort William.
DAY 4 - ARDNAMURCHAN
We drive today to Glenfinnan, where we’ll learn about the history of the Jacobite Rebellions.
Onwards to Moidart and Ardnamurchan to explore the ruins of Tioram Castle,
walk along white sandy beaches and visit the Ardnamurchan Lighthouse,
built by the Stevenson family.
Overnight in Acharacle / Kilchoan.
DAY 5 - THE ISLE OF MULL
This morning, we cross over to the Isle of Mull by ferry.
Along the remote roads of the island, experience the rugged character
of this sparsely-populated island. We will then explore the Isle of Iona nearby,
with its 5th-century abbey.
Overnight in Tobermory or area.
DAY 6 - ARGYLL
Today, we return to the mainland, via the postcard-perfect town of Oban.
We carry on to the Argyll Peninsula, to Arduaine Gardens and Kilmartin Glen,
an incredible vista of prehistoric standing stones. Along Loch Fyne, we
make our way to Inveraray, an 18th-century planned town and seat of the Campbells.
Overnight in Inveraray / Loch Lomond.
DAY 7 - THE TROSSACHS & STIRLING
We drive today to the “Rest and Be Thankful” pass, entering the Loch Lomond
& The Trossachs National Park. After a coffee (or pint of beer) in Scotland’s
most haunted inn, we follow the shore of Loch Lomond towards Luss.
In the afternoon, we discover the history of Stirling and its castle,
before returning to Edinburgh.

Islands
- Island Hopping at its best -
10 days / 9 nights - 850 miles
With over 700 islands, Scotland is rich with varied landscapes and seascapes. Hop on this extensive private tour to some of the most beautiful Scottish islands, from Arran's stones circles to Skye's picturesque mountain ridges, from Harris's endless sandy beaches to Lewis otherworldly moors.
DAY 1 - CENTRAL SCOTLAND & ARRAN
Depart Edinburgh towards Queensferry and the UNESCO World Heritage site of the Forth Bridge.
Visit Linlithgow Palace, the birthplace of Marie Sutart,
before we make our way to the Falkirk Wheel, a boat lift like no other.
In the afternoon, we will make our way to Ardrossan and embark on the ferry to Arran.
Overnight in Brodick area.
DAY 2 - ARRAN
The Isle of Arran is like Scotland in miniature, with its Highlands
in the north, and its rolling hills in the south. We visit Brodick Castle,
sample some of the tasty Arran cheese at a dairy farm, discover ruined castles
and stones circles, as we circle the island. At the end of the day,
let’s enjoy a visit to a whisky distillery.
Overnight in Brodick area.
DAY 3 - ARGYLL
Today, we return to the mainland, via the Argyll Peninsula.
Kilmartin Glen, our first stop, will offer a glimpse of prehistoric life
in the area, with an incredible vista of prehistoric standing stones, along
with a short walk to Dunadd Fort. Along Loch Fyne, we make our way to Inveraray,
an 18th-century planned town and seat of the Campbells, before reaching the ruins of
Kilchurn Castle.
Overnight in Oban area.
DAY 4 - THE ISLE OF MULL
This morning, we cross over to the Isle of Mull by ferry.
Along the remote roads of the island, experience the rugged character
of this sparsely-populated island. We will then explore the Isle of Iona nearby,
with its 5th-century abbey.
Overnight in Tobermory area.
DAY 5 - ARDNAMURCHAN
We catch the morning ferry from Tobermory, sailing towards Kilchoan and the picturesque
Ardnamurchan peninsula. Onwards to visit the Ardnamurchan Lighthouse,
built by the Stevenson family, and to Moidart to explore the ruins of Tioram Castle,
walk along white sandy beaches.
Overnight in Acharacle / Mallaig.
DAY 6 - THE ISLE OF SKYE
This morning, we embark on a short ferry crossing to the Sleat peninsula,
on Skye. Throughout the day, we will discover and explore the awe-inspiring
scenery of Scotland’s most picturesque island, driving by the Cuillin Hills,
exploring the Fairy Pools, and visiting the ancient seat of the clan MacLeod,
Dunvegan Castle. Many other surprises await on Skye.
Overnight in Portree area.
DAY 7 & 8 - THE ISLES OF HARRIS AND LEWIS
Today, we drive around Trotternish, the scenic northern peninsula of Skye,
before our ferry departs to Harris. Once there, we will visit the Harris Gin distillery,
learn about the Harris Tweed and explore the colourful turquoise waters and sandy beaches
of its west coast. At the end of the day, we drive north towards the barren moors of Lewis. On the second day, we will go back in time, exploring the ancient sites of Lewis, such as Calanais, the Black House Villages and Dun Carloway Broch.
Overnight in Stornoway area.
DAY 9 - WESTER ROSS
We arrive back on the mainland today, in Ullapool, and will then walk down to Corrieshalloch Gorge.
The road takes a turn around Loch Ewe and its magnificent sandy beaches, and
will visit the tropical Inverewe Gardens. On to Gairloch at Loch Maree,
Glen Docherty before reaching the farmlands of Easter Ross and the Black Isle.
Overnight in Contin / Beauly.
DAY 10 - CAIRNGORMS & PERTHSHIRE
After a short stop in Inverness, the capital of the Highlands,
we will explore Culloden Battlefield, and the prehistoric site of Clava Cairns.
Driving down through the Cairngorms, we will visit Blair Castle, the ancestral home of
the Atholls, before reaching Dunkeld and the Hermitage, a picturesque forest walk.
Return to Edinburgh at the end of the day.
